AB (ABLE SEAMAN) Offshore

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain good housekeeping by cleaning both the internal and external areas of the vessel.
• Assist in docking and undocking operations.
• Ensure STS hose lines are properly aligned before discharge begins.
• Conduct deck cargo operations, including loading and offloading.
• Adhere to safety protocols for all onboard operations.
• Stay alert during export and offloading operations to prevent spills or accidents.
• Secure the ship properly before loading or offloading materials.
• Perform general vessel maintenance, including scraping, priming, painting, and sounding of cargoes.
• Inspect and ensure rigging materials are in good condition for safe operations.
• Check fire hydrants and fire extinguishers to confirm they are functional.
• Participate in daily safety briefings.
• Maintain hoses and ropes in order and report any unsafe acts onboard.
• Perform watchkeeping duties day and night.

MAINTENANCE DUTIES

• Prevent rust formation and ensure the vessel is well-maintained.
• Clean and paint the vessel bi-monthly.
• De-sand various cargo tanks.
• Wash the deck regularly.

CARGO OPERATIONS

• Manage auxiliary systems, receive bunkers, and maintain proper records.
• Conduct regular checks on pump valves.
• Ensure fire hoses and extinguishers are in working condition.
• Coordinate with the banksman for operational signals during loading and offloading.
• Verify all pumps are in proper working condition.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

• Certification as an Able Seaman (AB).
• Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in offshore or maritime operations.
• Strong knowledge of vessel maintenance and cargo handling procedures.
• Familiarity with safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
• Ability to work in offshore environments with flexible schedules.
