RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and vessel manuals related to the role.
- Ensure efficient and safe operation and maintenance of HVAC systems, refrigeration plants, and Uninterrupted Power Supply units.
- Maintain and operate engine equipment and sensor units safely.
- Generate reports on deficiencies, substandard acts, and conditions for submission to the Chief Engineer.
- Report deficiencies in MARPOL and Anti-Pollution equipment to the Chief Engineer.
- Maintain all electrical motors on the ship, including those in the engine room and on deck.
- Oversee the maintenance of all switchboards, including main and emergency switchboards.
- Ensure proper functioning of fire detectors, fire alarm systems, and all ship alarm systems.
- Maintain and repair electronic systems onboard the ship.
- Responsible for ship’s navigational lights and other navigational equipment.
- Maintain and monitor batteries and power systems onboard, including emergency batteries for alarms and lights.
- Oversee the maintenance of refrigerated containers carried on board.
- Maintain cargo and engine room cranes’ electrical systems.
- Perform routine maintenance for main engine alarms and trips in coordination with the Chief Engineer.
- Manage electrical and other onboard emergencies.
- Assist in watch-keeping routines as required by the Chief Engineer.
- Carry out any other duties assigned by the Chief Engineer or 2nd Engineer.
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree or certification in Electrical/Marine Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role aboard vessels.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, and power systems.
- Experience with shipboard electrical systems, switchboards, and alarm systems.
- Familiarity with MARPOL regulations and anti-pollution equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and emergency response skills.
- Ability to work in offshore environments with a flexible schedule.
